Issues - Position on the Issues

It is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers” James Thurber

  1. Health Care Reform
  2. Second Amendment Rights
  3. Energy Independence
  4. Illegal Immigration
  5. The Economy
  6. Taxes
  7. Social Security
  8. National Defense Policies
  9. State Issues

Health Care Reform

 We support:

  • individual, privately owned tax-exempt health care accounts,
  • the quality and availability of the current health care system, with the understanding that improvements are needed,

We oppose:

  • government takeover of health care and access to personal information,
  • "single payer option",
  • health care for those in this country illegally,
  • enactment of any health care legislation that exempts Congress, the Executive Branch and federal employees,

Second Amendment Rights

We support:

  • the belief that gun/ammunition ownership is a Constitutional/fundamental right of every American for self-defense and protection

We oppose:

  • legislation to remove or diminish the right of an individual to keep and bear arms (i.e. restriction of ownership, mandatory registration of guns, ammunition and reloading equipment/supplies)

Energy Independence

We support:

  • research and development of alternative energy methods, including Nuclear Power
  • all conventional means of energy production at our disposal, such as off-shore drilling, drilling in ANWR, conversion of oil shale, and coal gasification.

We oppose:

  • legislation to limit energy production and/or "toxic emissions" related to global warming proposals
  • "Cap and Trade" which will diminish America's sovereignty and result in the decline of America's economy

Illegal Immigration

We support:

  • legal immigration policies and procedures

We oppose:

  • granting automatic citizenship to those born here to illegal immigrants.
  • Illegal immigration and the issue of "open borders"
  • providing free health care, free educational opportunities, Social Security benefits and other privileges to those in our country illegally

The Economy

We support:
  • fiscal responsibility
  • private industry and the free-market system
  • reduction in local, state and federal government
  • taxation for only those things that the Constitution specifically requires: national defense and the internal security to enable freedom of expression, religion, and pursuit of happiness
We oppose:
  • attempts by the federal government to "nationalize" or "socialize" any part of the economy that is not within their constitutional rights
  • "Stimulus" legislation that spends money that can never be repaid except through "monetization of the debt", inflation, or taxation
  • attempts by the federal government, including the judiciary branch, to treat the Constitution as a "living" document

Taxes

We support:

  • a flat or value-added tax limited by both population and inflation caps
  • review and revision of the current IRS Tax Code

We oppose

  • a "progressive" tax system
  • "death tax" on assets that have already been taxed, and support its immediate and permanent repeal
  • unpredictable/uncontrollable local property taxes
  • tax exemptions for special interests.

Social Security

We support:

  • the option of privatization of Social Security

We oppose:

  • the use of Social Security funds for any purpose other than originally intended

National Defense

We support:

  • that ALL branches of government adhere to the Constitutional directive for the protection and defense of the United States of America

We oppose:

  • reductions in National Defense, Security and Intelligence budgets
  • partisan and restrictive Congressional oversight of the military and intelligence agencies

State Issues

One of the reason that the framers of the constitution insisted on a republic was to insure that the individual states could resolve the issues through the authority specified in the Constitution  in a manner befitting their geographic composition and desires of their people. State Sovereignty as guaranteed in the Constitution has been trampled upon.
