Picking our Opponents
Up to a point organizations and people can pick their opponents. For us to prosper we need to follow two rules for picking opponents.
- Engage in "civil disobedience and non-violence only with
those who believe in justice". Example: Ghandi won against the
British but the tactics failed in the Soviet Union. Don't pick
fights with the totally unprincipled.
- "Never get in a peeing contest with a skunk." There are some groups and individuals that it is best to avoid and walk away from; for example, those who have nothing to lose are not valid opponents.
In positive terms, however, our fight is with groups and organizations that embrace corruption, propaganda, hatred, and discrimination on the basis of religion or race. That should cover a lot of ground including some religious priesthoods, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, both political parties, etc. For the moment, let us pick our battles and stick to the most currently egregious like the national level political parties.
